The summer solstice is all about making the most of the longest day of the year. There’s something special about celebrating the solstice by the water! With the sun lingering late into the evening, the lake sparkles along the shoreline, the sound of the water and the breeze makes you take a moment to just be grateful and feel Mother Earth! Whether you want the charm of a small city or the big feel of a large lake, Pewaukee and Milwaukee are the places to be!
The summer solstice is the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything that makes Milwaukee and Pewaukee shine, and truly come alive during the summer months.
Connect to Music at local festivals and concerts
Milwaukee’s atmosphere is energetic but also welcoming, making it a great destination for families, groups of friends, or anyone looking to enjoy Milwaukee’s music scene.
Summerfest is also a great way to hear whole bunch of different types of music and get outside! It is on multiple weekends, but it also happens to land on Solstice weekend! If you happen to go, any of the weekends, we will have a vendor booth, over in the shop local section, make sure to come say hi, we would love to see you! There are lots of amazing local vendors that will be there! We got some jewelry that we will only have at Summerfest too!
Take a Solstice Walk Along the Lakefront
Milwaukee’s lakefront offers some of the most beautiful scenery in Wisconsin. A summer solstice walk through Lakeshore State Park provides stunning views of Lake Michigan, downtown Milwaukee, and the city’s natural habitats.
For those who prefer a quieter celebration, Pewaukee is a great option! It’s a shorter walk but still so beautiful and worth the visit! The sunsets are so amazing over the water! With the extended daylight hours it makes it easy to enjoy a leisurely stroll while taking in the sights and sounds of the season. It’s also an ideal opportunity to slow down and appreciate the transition into summer.
Take a Solstice Nature Walk or Hike
Nature walks are such a powerful tools for boosting both mental and physical health. They are proven to lower stress hormones, reduce blood pressure, improve cognitive focus, and ease symptoms of depression.
Seven bridges is one of our favorite family hikes! There are so many different trails to go on. You can go high, where you can see the lake from a top, which is just a stunning view! Or you can walk the sand right next to the beach side. They have lots of beach front where you can actually go in the water or walk with your feet in the water! This is a prime spot to find sea glass also! Since the hikes can be long, it’s a good way to take advantage of the longest day!
If you go out in nature, make sure to hug a tree! Grace Always does this!

Connect with People
Solstice, sunshine and connection - this season is all about being in community. You know the people who light up your world, today is the day to reach out to them and put something on the calendar. The people who support and life us up are the perfect people to focus your attention on this season. Meet up for an adventure day, share some laughs at your local beer garden, or spend some time shopping at your favorite store (Sienna Moon would love to see you :-) )
Extend the fiery energy late into the night with a bonfire! You can gather your loved ones together while soaking in the crackling flames. If you don’t have the ability to have a bonfire, doing a burn and release ritual is an excellent way to work with the energy of fire!
Go to a Farmers Market - Fresh fruits/veggies and flowers!
Farmers markets are such a great way to get out and support your community! With all the amazing fresh fruit and veggies, this is a perfect time to walk around and see what calls to you. Creating a meal to nourish you and your loved ones is an amazing way to celebrate the bounty of fresh food that comes with Summer! Local honey is always one of our favorite items to get! And the flowers!!!
Fresh flowers can instantly uplift the emotional frequency of your home. In Feng Shui, flower colors represent the five elements and influence different aspects of life.
Red Flowers - are connected to the Fire element: These flowers can help boost passion and motivation.
Yellow Flowers - are connected to the Earth element: Helping to promote stability, feeling grounded, and happiness.
Pink Flowers - are connected to the Love element: Known to attract romance, nurturing energy, and emotional harmony.
White Flowers - are connected to the Metal element: Representing purity, focus, and clarity.
Purple & Blue Flowers - are connected to the Wood/Water element: Can help boost creativity and prosperity.
Watch the Sunset at the Lakefront, Pewaukee or Milwaukee
Few experiences capture the essence of summer quite like watching the sun set over the lakefront. Bradford Beach, Veterans Park, and Lakeshore State Park all provide excellent vantage points for enjoying the final moments of the longest day of the year. I also just love watching the sunset over Pewaukee lake! It's one of Belle's favorite times! Even if we are closed for the day, make sure to peek in the windows, she is normally there watching!
Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and settle in for a relaxing evening as the city transitions from daylight to dusk.
