Each season has some core values to connect to when it comes to self care. You can look to the outdoors as inspiration for winter self care. From the bears hibernating, to the shorter days, to the colder weather, and even the fruits and vegetables that grow and are harvested in the cold; all signs are pointing to cozying up and nourishing ourselves all winter long. So let's talk about our pillars of Winter Self Care, so you can create a nourishing routine for yourself!

Physical Nourishment

Winter is truly the time to focus on treating your physical body. This is when you should be nourishing our bodies, both inside and out to help recharge before you begin a new energy cycle Spring. Nourishing your physical body is a powerful way to reset and restore your energy reserves. Physical self care like a hot bath, a skin care routine, and even a massage are important rituals that shine a light on how you can appreciate and love your body in its entirety. However, grounding and physical rest are equally supportive in this time. Be sure to be getting extra and better sleep during the winter. This can be helped through examining your sleep routine and seeing where you can assist yourself with rest.

Grounding in the winter helps you to stay focused on the present moment, easing anxiety and helping you to feel safe and supported. You can ground in many ways (all of which support your physical body) from eating a nourishing meal with root vegetables, to taking a walk outside in the woods, to gentle movement like yoga which can help you center your mind!

Mental Rest

In addition to rest and nourishing your physical body, mental rest is incredibly important. So is letting yourself rest without judgement. This is the part of the year where you need to allow yourself to go inward, dream, and reflect about your past year. This is not really the time to be setting big goals or having expectations to create something new or have the energy to do so.

Rest needs to be just that, a period of pausing to help you recharge and refuel before you take off running and planting your seeds in the Spring. But you certainly do not have to sleep all winter long (we are in fact humans who have jobs, families, and lives to live). There are some key ways that you can rest and recharge that go beyond the physical. Mental rest can be achieved through meditation where you allow your mind to sit in stillness and come back to the present moment. You can also connect to Creative Rest, which involves tapping into play, creativity, and your inner child through artistic practices. Even sensroy rest, where you use an eye mask or ear plugs to help you reduce a sense so you can feel a little extra mental quiet.

Reflection Time

Winter is the perfect time for you to reflect on how everything went in the last year and how you want it to go in the next one. I think often people want to always keep moving forward at an unsustainable pace. Thinking that staying focused on positive possibilities is what should drive you. While this mentality can be helpful at other times of the year, winter was truly built for us to slow down and reminisce.

How did the last year go? What struggles came up and how did the resolve, if they did at all? Where and how can you acknowledge the things you did well? What are the things that your soul is excited for in 2026? And how can you spend time dreaming with that vs creating resolutions and goals that you expect yourself to start in the dead of Winter?

This is also a time for shadow work to rise up inside of us and asked present itself for us to sit with, heal, and reflect on why it's there and how we can work through it.

These are the three pillars that we love to focus on when it comes to your winter self care, and you can find each and every one of them celebrated and represented in our Season Self Care Box! Each box comes with a journal written and created by us, and include hand picked crystals and tools that are designed to support you throughout the season of winter.
